Darlene brings to Alpine Mountain Ranch 25 years of resort real estate experience. Her career began on the Big Island of Hawaii as Sales Director, Trainer and Consultant to real estate developers. Moving back home to Colorado in 2004, she was part of the award-winning team that sold out the St. Regis Residence Club in Aspen. As the Sales Director for Intrawest’s real estate division in Copper Mountain, she led the sales team to unprecedented success in 2006/07. Darlene’s incredible energy and enthusiastic style are infectious to all she meets. Quite literally swept away by the stunning vistas of the Yampa Valley, she joined the developer team of Alpine Mountain Ranch & Club without hesitation in early 2008.

A former National Park Ranger, Darlene holds a lifelong passion for all things outdoors and is especially excited about her current wild surroundings so close to a vibrant downtown. She and her daughter, Lauren, a recent graduate of the University of Colorado, enjoy concert-going, hiking, tubing the Yampa and downtown shopping. And when you ask the inevitable question, after all the resorts her career has taken her to, Darlene finds Steamboat to be, hands down, the best all-around lifestyle winner.


Carolyn Bird - Senior Sales Associate

Carolyn’s love of wide open spaces took root on her family’s Kansas farm. While she began her career in advertising in Chicago, one trip out West and she was hooked on big mountain environments. A decade-long career in resort sales, public relations and hospitality in Big Sky, Montana; Chamonix, France; and Crested Butte, Colorado followed. Her next leap was as a top producing medical sales specialist in Boulder where her territory allowed her continued access to many of Colorado’s mega resorts. Carolyn lives by the motto, “Dream big, work hard.” Since 1997, she has been active in the sales of pre-construction luxury resort real estate in Steamboat Springs. She enjoys international travel, outdoor sports, boating, learning other languages and sharing her passion for the Yampa Valley with everyone she meets.

Carolyn is a licensed realtor in Colorado and California. A Phi Beta Kappa scholar, she attended the University of Bordeaux III and graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in journalism and French.


Cade Wilson - Ranch Manager

Cade Wilson is our experienced Ranch Manager. A Wyoming native, Cade has spent a lifetime in the ranching industry, and has spent most of his working career on guest ranches. Cade is an accomplished horseman and hunting guide and is responsible for all aspects of livestock and pasture management at Alpine Mountain Ranch. He describes his role at Alpine Mountain Ranch & Club as his “dream job”. He enjoys demonstrating and sharing his many outdoor skills including hiking, fly fishing, hunting, snowshoeing and downhill skiing. Cade lives on the Ranch with his wife Amber and Labrador, Denali.


Kathy Cain - Ranch Office Manager & Administrative Assistant

Kathy comes to Alpine Mountain Ranch & Club from Aurora, Illinois, with 23 years of experience as a Senior Associate for Merrill Lynch. Kathy’s desire to live in a resort town comes from growing up on the shores of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where boating, water skiing and snow skiing were all in her backyard. She and her husband Steve have been visiting Steamboat Springs since 1983 and are now living their dream as full time residents of the Yampa Valley. They enjoy downhill skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, and experiencing all the year-round activities the Valley has to offer.
